American redstart – Setophaga ruticilla
I took this at White Clay Creek State Park in the spring. I thought is was a Red-winged Blackbird but then I took a closer look at it to find it was a little different.
This is a New World warbler which is kind of funny because it has nothing to do with the Old World Redstarts. Apparently, the word start is an old word for tail. Still not sure how the New and Old World part of the name have anything to do with each other.
