Ruddy Duck – Oxyura jamaicensis

I saw someone reported a ruddy duck on ebird. I decided to try to see if I could spot them. There were only two of them bobbing around the Carousel Pond. Not only did I see these two but I also saw a snow egret some Mallards, Canada Geese, Muted Swans,  Pekings and several hybrids.

I was hoping the bills would be bluer but it could be the time of year or gender. I was trying to catch one of the birds but it kept diving. I am amazed at how long they could hold their breath.
