Wood Stork – Mycteria americana

We went to Hernando Beach one day and was pretty disappointed with the scarcity of birds. We were on an observation tower and I saw a great egret and I thought there was a second one too. Then I noticed the black wings and zoomed in. These are some freaky looking birds. After I saw one, of course, they were everywhere around the villages. I photographed several near my mom’s place. I even had to explain that the storks were really all around to a resident. They just did not usually stand up.
