Brown Pelican – Pelecanus occidentalis

We were heading back to Hernando Beach and we stopped to get my mom some sand shoes. The family went into the store and I went to investigate the larger bird I saw landing. I was super excited when I saw that it was a pelican. Once we were at Hernando Beach, they were flying overhead in squadrons heading toward an island.

I read Facebook later that day and discovered that white pelicans were seen at Bombay Hook. It must have been a pelican sort of day.
