Common Raven – Corvus corax
When we where in Yellowstone, there were so many of these Ravens. I was impressed with how much larger than the crows we have in the east.
In the spirit of honesty, I did not take the lower picture, my wife took it. I took the upper picture but I love the composition of the lower pictures. I love how she caught the bird in mid-step.
This bird is also called the Northern Raven because it lives in the northern hemisphere. When I say northern hemisphere, I mean the whole upper half of the world. There are sub-species within the larger group but they cover the globe.
These are some long-lived birds making it to the ripe old age of 21 years in the wild.
