Great Blue Heron – Ardea herodias

Great Blue Herons, or GBH’s, are common around the area. My father-in-law is always struggling to keep GBH’s out of his pond and away from his carp. These are beautiful birds and almost seem regal when they stand at the water’s edge, surveying the world around them.

They were in great abundance at Bombay Hook. We saw them just about every where on both days we were there. My son started calling them GBH’s or Great Big Herons.
