Spotted Towhee – Pipilo maculatus

We went out west last summer and along the way we stopped by to see my cousin, Jack. He took us out to Red Rock and this is where we spotted this guy. He was hidden behind the plants so I had a hard time getting a good shot of him.

The towhee is known for its reddish eyes. Unfortunately, from the angles of these pictures, you really can’t appreciate the coloring.
