Indigo Bunting – Passerina cyanea

Finally! An Indigo Bunting (female). As with most birds, her male counterpart is much more flamboyant, but I’ll take a bird when I can get one.

Got this one at Ashland Nature Center. She sat just long enough to fluff her feathers, allow me to take one picture, and fly off.

I have gotten pictures of the male indigo bunting and I am very pleased. I probably saw them last year but had no idea what I was looking at. Ahh the growth in one year.
